British Birds
It's a wonder to me that after a lifetime of loving birds and doing little about it, I am now a fully-fledged (ha!) birder (not twitcher, please! A whole different species!) with bins, scope, well-thumbed field guide and some amazing and wonderful experiences to look back on with delight and not a little astonishment. If someone had told me ten years ago that I would travel to Uganda and be paddled in a pirogue through papyrus beds in search of a Shoebill Stork, I would have laughed derisively and in utter disbelief. I did, I saw not one but two, and have that memory as just one among the many that birding has given me. This
section is devoted to British birds, and I've been fortunate enough to travel as
far north as Handa Island off the west coast of Scotland, as well as places
closer to home, enjoying the birds and other wildlife on my
journeys. Page 1 2
